To Those That Show Up

Just read a blog post about how 95% of all blogs are abandoned within 120 days. It makes me think about how so much of what you see every day isn’t necessarily done by the best and brightest of people in whatever field/industry created whatever it is that you’re looking at. Its that life goes to those that show up. Everything that has ever gotten done has one single thing in common: Somebody did it. That’s the only common thread. Not marketing or luck or who the CEO was or how much experience someone had. Just that it got done.

The internet says that Thomas Edison said

“Many of life’s failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

My Dad once told me that if its a good idea, somebody is already doing it. So most people won’t bother. Others get excited that somebody else already proved market viability.

This is probably horrible to think…. but, from what I’ve seen, overwhelmingly, success doesn’t come from being better or having more value or lower price or any of the other stuff you read. Success comes from seeing something through to the end.

Thats it.

But that’s what the vast majority of people just don’t do.
